Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) are at the heart of everything we do. For us, EDI is an organisation-wide responsibility.
What we do
We do our best to promote equality, respect diversity and foster inclusion. But we do much more than just complying with legislation. We also:
- aim for best practice;
- learn from others;
- compare ourselves against the best; and
- continually strive for excellence.
Our award-winning projects
Happy to Translate (HTT)
We co-founded - and now manage - Happy to Translate. This nationwide initiative helps organisations to communicate with people who have little or no English so they can access information and services they need. HTT includes a toolkit, translated phrases, feedback forms and a mobile app.
Our mobile app won ‘UK's Most Innovative EDI Initiative of the year’ at the 2017 National Centre for Diversity awards.
Older People’s Services Project
We work in partnership with Hanover and Bield on this Lottery-funded project, which helps ethnic minority older people overcome barriers to accessing critical benefits and services they’re entitled to.
We celebrate diversity through special projects such as the Heritage Lottery funded Scottish Memories Immigration Stories project. This captured - in print and film - the amazing stories of the pioneering immigrants who arrived in Scotland in the 1950s and 60s to build new lives.
We’re proud to be the first Scottish housing association to achieve Leaders in Diversity accreditation. Before this, we were the first Scottish housing association to achieve Investors in Diversity accreditation.
Leaders in Diversity recognises our approach to managing EDI. Our dynamic EDI working group generates and coordinates EDI ideas and activities as well as monitoring and evaluating their impact.
