Trust and Wishaw & District Transfer
Wishaw & District Housing Association (WDHA) tenants have resoundingly backed the proposed transfer into Trust with 97.3% voting YES to the proposal. The ballot was open for 29 days with an impressive 73.3% of tenants taking the opportunity to cast their vote and make their voice heard.
What Does this Mean for Trust?
It means that Wishaw & District will become part of Trust in a partnership that will combine both organisations into one that is financially stronger and even better able to meet future challenges and customer needs by investing in services, homes and technology. We will be a larger, stronger and more resilient organisation with more money to invest in our stock. It will see Trust grow by 40%.
What does this mean for Trust tenants?
This will allow us to keep rents affordable and focus on providing excellent services for older people. Wishaw & District brings with it a strong financial contribution, so the transfer will be at no cost to Trust tenants and will bring benefits of more money to invest in the housing stock for existing and future tenants.
What happens next?
We have already been talking to Trust tenants who have suggested a number of different ways that Trust tenants could “feel the benefit”, and we are exploring ways of turning these into reality, as well as consulting more widely with our tenants.
We are working towards completing the transfer by December 2019, subject to two Wishaw and District Special General Meetings (SGM) and legal consents. We will update you again in your Winter edition of Trust Talk.
