Trust’s CEO, Rhona McLeod to retire in March 2026

19th September 2025

Following the announcement at our Annual General Meeting on 18th September 2025, Trust can share that Rhona McLeod will retire from her role as Chief Executive at the end of March 2026. Rhona’s distinguished tenure as Trust’s CEO is marked by strategic leadership, sector innovation, and an unwavering commitment to customer service and wellbeing.

Rhona joined Trust as CEO in May 2015 on the back of a highly successful leadership career at organisations such as Royal Mail, Bupa, and the NHS. Over a decade as Trust's CEO, Rhona has led the organisation through a period of significant transformation, championing digital innovation and adoption, strengthening partnerships, and embedding a positive culture of transparency and inclusion. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the thriving organisation that Trust is today and ensuring its resilience and long-term sustainability in the face of sector-wide challenges.

Under Rhona's leadership, Trust has grown from 2500 homes to almost 4000, and turnover has increased from £21m to £44m. Rhona's commitment to making Trust a great place to work is reflected in our IIP Platinum accreditation and status as a Fair Work First employer.

Rhona said “I have had over ten wonderful years as Trust’s CEO. I have had the opportunity to get to know customers and colleagues across the length and breadth of Scotland. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to lead Trust through a fundamental stage of our growth and success. Most of all I have valued the very spirit and ethos of Trust. Our culture and values are the shining crown of all that we are and all that we do, where colleagues regularly go the extra mile to be there for our customers, for each other and for the wider organisation itself.”

Dr Norval Bryson, Trust’s Chair, added: ‘’Rhona has led Trust with great skill and drive through some difficult times including COVID, economic turmoil and the cost-of-living crisis. We have also had the great benefit of her superb motivational and team building gifts, which are so responsible for the culture of Trust.  We are all going to miss her very much."

Recruitment for a new Chief Executive will begin shortly. Rhona will work with the Board and colleagues to ensure a smooth leadership transition during the appointment of an outstanding candidate who can build on Rhona’s legacy and lead Trust forward into the future. While Rhona has shared her retirement plans, she remains fully focussed on her role as CEO and will continue to drive the organisation forward over the coming months and lead on the development of Trust's new five-year strategy.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Rhona for her exceptional service and leadership, and we look forward to celebrating her contributions with colleagues and partners across Trust and the sector in the months ahead.
