New Build Provision

Since its formation in 2000, Isle of Arran Homes has provided fifty eight new affordable homes for rent in Shiskine, Kilmory, Brodick, Pirnmill, Whiting Bay and Blackwaterfoot. Forty eight of these were general needs housing and four amenity housing.

The latest developments were a general needs development of six houses at Hendry Place in Brodick which were built by John Corbett Construction Ltd, Brodick and let in June 2007 and four amenity bungalow in Blackwaterfoot. These were let in July 2007. In March 2009 we purchased six family homes in Lamlash from John Thomson Construction Ltd. This successful transaction came about as a result of the continued close partnership working between Isle of Arran Homes and North Ayrshire Council, together with the support of the Scottish Government Housing and Investment Division. The joint funding package was put together through the Scottish Government providing £600,000 from the Accelerated Funding Programme, North Ayrshire Council providing £203,151 from the Affordable Housing Account and the balance met through private finance raised by Trust Housing Association Ltd

Isle of Arran Homes/Trust Housing Association Ltd continually strives to provide addition affordable housing on the Isle of Arran.

We are actively pursuing a development in Corrie and within the Association’s Strategic Investment Plan potential development sites have been identified in Lamlash and Brodick. It is hoped that some of these sites will provide housing not just for rent but also for those who may wish to purchase a property through Shared Equity. Shared Equity, which is known as Homestake, is a new scheme to help people on low incomes who wish to own their own home but cannot afford to pay the full price for a house.
