Housing with Care

During 2009, the Association worked in partnership with West Lothian and Inverclyde Councils to develop a new service model at Trust developments at Crusader Court, Livingston and St Margaret’s Court, Greenock.

Current and future tenants can now receive their housing, housing support and personal care delivered by on-site teams of Trust staff, in addition to accessing a meals service with food cooked and served on the premises.

The services are designed to provide a home for life except where long term nursing care is required. The aim is to avoid the need for older, frailer tenants to have to move into residential care.

The benefits to tenants are a holistic service delivered by a small team of staff, having their own tenancy and having services tailored to meet their needs.

Vacant properties at both developments are now no longer let to applicants on a housing list. For Livingston applications can be made via Trust or the Council but all allocations are made through the Council’s Allocation Panel. In Inverclyde, the Council’s Social Work Department has exclusive rights to refer clients who would benefit from these services, for a tenancy. New tenants will normally have been assessed as requiring a minimum of 10 hours/week housing support, personal care and home care (some of which they may already be receiving).

Tenants pay their housing costs to Trust and the payment, where required for home care and housing support are made to the Council.

To find out more or to be considered for either development either contact Trust directly (info@trustha.org.uk) or West Lothian or Inverclyde Council Social Work Departments. If you contact Trust, we will forward your details to the appropriate Council.
