Housing for all people
In addition to the accommodation designed specifically for older people, we have a number of other housing options available. Click on the links at the side of the page to find out more. If you would like additional information contact your nearest Trust office.
General Needs
Rented housing for individuals, couples and families. This can be in the form of flats, four-in-a-block or semi-detached properties. Note that Association tenants DO NOT have a Right To Buy Association properties.
Shared Ownership
Rented housing for individuals, couples and families where the property is part owned and part rented from the association. Occupiers are owners who typically take a mortgage from a private lender for a percentage of the property value and rent the remainder from the Association.
The proportion of the property that is owned is called a “tranche”. Owners can buy tranches in 25% blocks i.e. 25%, 50% and 75%, up to and including outright ownership.
Homestake (Shared Equity)
Homestake is a new scheme aimed at helping people on low incomes who want to own their own homes but who cannot afford to pay the full price. Homestake is aimed at first-time buyers but also others whose life circumstances have changed, for example, people affected by marital breakdown. The scheme has been designed flexibly so that it can also be used to assist disabled people and older people access more suitable housing.
At the moment we do not have any Homestake projects, but to find out more about the scheme click here to access Communities Scotland's website
