Trust Housing Association & Isle of Arran Homes.27th July 2007

Friday 27 July 2007 marked a milestone for Isle of Arran Homes, an initiative of Trust Housing Association Ltd, based on the Isle of Arran.

Councillor David O’Neill, Leader of North Ayrshire Council, performed the opening ceremony of the most recent development of four amenity cottages at Blackwaterfoot in front of an audience of invited guests representing Communities Scotland, North Ayrshire Council, Housing Association Committee members and staff. The milestone being that the completion of this small design and build contract by the island based contractor, John Thomson Construction Limited of Lamlash, marked the building of the 50th new home since the inception of Isle of Arran Homes in 2001. This brings the total of the Association’s complement of amenity cottages in the village to 10.

During the ceremony, Councillor David O’Neill, handed over the keys to Mr & Mrs Colin Allan, the new tenants of one of the properties, together with a bouquet of flowers to Mrs Allan.

The completion of this development means that in total 52 new homes have been provided on the island by Isle of Arran Homes/Trust Housing Association Ltd. The first Isle of Arran Homes new build development of 6 family homes was completed in Kilmory on 6 March 2002 and further developments were completed as follows:

2002 Shiskine 6 houses
2003 Brodick 8 Houses
2005 Kilmory Phase 2 8 houses
2006 Whiting Bay 6 houses
2006 Pirnmill 8 houses
2007 Brodick 6 houses
2007 Blackwaterfoot 4 houses


Total 52

The cost of the Blackwaterfoot development was £593,566 and brought the total investment costs of providing 52 new homes on Arran to £6.559 million, comprising £5.246 million HAG and £1.313 million Private Finance.
