Responsible to: Project Manager

Job Summary:
The Care Assistant is appointed as a member of the staff team at the development and will assist in the delivery of the services which will enable residents to obtain maximum benefit whilst enhancing the quality of their lives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To be aware of and adhere to the general policies of Trust to the extent that these policies affect the tasks undertaken.
  2. To work as a team member promoting a caring environment consistent with the aims and objectives of the development
  3. To undertake specific tasks, as a member of the care team, to enable residents to develop and enhance their individual life style, being aware that all residents will have a dementia type illness.
  4. To ensure the highest possible standards of care, consistent with the maintenance of independent choice and individual rights.
  5. To ensure that the care and support given is reflective of the main principles within the National Care Standards and takes into account the emotional, psychological and spiritual needs and desires of the residents.
  6. To ensure that the material standards of the development are maintained, consistent with the comfort and well-being of the users.
  7. To offer support and guidance to individual residents and to work as part of the Key worker system of care.
  8. To participate in the preparation, implementation and review of individual care plans, in consultation with the Development Manager or Senior Care Officers.
  9. To stimulate and encourage communal activities within the development and contact between the users and the local community.
  10. To participate in staff meetings and attend and participate in appropriate training, including the attainment of the necessary qualifications required for registration with the SSSC.
  11. To work under the supervision of the Project Manager or Senior Care
    Officers.
  12. To maintain such records as are required.
  13. To work on a rota basis involving early and late shifts.
  14. To maintain security of the development at all times.
  15. To undertake any other relevant duties as are considered appropriate to the post.
